How to spot fake supplements in Nepal
Fake and repacked supplements are a real problem. They waste your money and can be unsafe. This checklist helps you protect yourself, whoever you buy from.
The 8-point check
- Look at the seal. The inner foil seal must be unbroken, printed and neat. A missing or re-glued seal is a red flag.
- Find the batch number and expiry date. They should be clearly printed on the tub, not on a sticker that peels off.
- Check the label. Spelling mistakes, blurry print and faded colours are warning signs.
- Compare the price. A price far below every other seller usually means a fake, an old stock or a repack.
- Ask for a bill. A real seller gives you one and tells you where the stock came from.
- Check the brand's own verification. Some brands have a scan or code check on the pack. Use it if your product has one.
- Look at the seller. Check for real reviews, a real shop address and a phone number that answers.
- Trust your senses. Strange smell, texture or taste, or a tub that looks refilled, means stop and do not use it.
What to do if you doubt a product
Do not use it. Keep the tub and the bill, take clear photos of the seal, label and batch number, and ask the seller for an explanation. A genuine seller will answer calmly.
